This week we did our final presentations and I got a ton of good feedback. Overall I was happy with the response I received from Todd and Dennis. They gave me a great starting point and some good ideas for how to evolve my packaging and guide system.

This class showed how through the process of creativity, determination, and passion you can build something wonderful. I look forward to developing this project even more.

Time slipped by on Friday as I forgot to add this entry! This week was more of the same, ideation and sketching for the systems I will be using in the upcoming semester. I was able to sketch out some grids for the guidebook which was really nice, as well as figured out everything that will be contained within the packaging. The sketching process gave me insight to the size of things, and how they will be configured inside of the box. I have to think about how each item will be branded and packaged themselves too. I will insert my sketches from this week here:

This week was all about expanding the round robin presentation and organizing it to help me understand the project and the way I am going to move forward. A lot of brand benchmarking and ideation through sketches.

The sketches show my concepts for the packaging system and the layout and…

This week was a lot of looking at inspiration, sketching, ideating, and thinking of timelines. I’ve been having conversations with my family and fiancé just about how the project is going and brainstorming ideas and bouncing ideas on them and getting some good feedback from people who don’t have a “design brain”. Here are some of my general sketches, content ideation, and moodboard for the project.

I feel like I am hitting a good stride with my project at this point. My primary research is going well and I am getting some great insights about raising kids, screen limitations, and other things as well. I am starting to collect and configure a lot of the content I need for this project too. Most of what I need content wise is the ideas and concepts to put inside of the guide.

I was sketching rough ideas for the packaging and created some cool concepts that I am excited about. I will sit on them for a while.

I am so happy we finally get to visualize something. It is helping me develop the idea even more and I think each week we move forward the project becomes clearer and clearer.

My primary research is going well. I recieved a lot of survey results and they are very helpful. I have also completed one interview and have another one set up. So I am learning and learning each day. I think the screen addiction aspect of the project is incredibly interesting and isnt something I thought I would be doing but I am happy to be doing it. I am learning a lot.

This week I finished up the rough draft project brief. It actually helped me understand my topic space even more while writing everything out. I also prepared all my questions for my primary research which I believe will give me a ton of new insights from different prospectives. I think laying out the plan for both semesters also worked in a good way too. Seeing how it work out and planning it myself gave me a lot of relief and inspiration for what is to come.

This week I found a solid person to help with my research. They live in the same neighborhood as me and have had experience with my capstone field for quite some time. They lead this region of Girl Scout troops. I will hopefully set up a discussion time soon with her.

Other than that I have found a lot of articles and journals about my different topic spaces. The secondary research is helping out a lot to develop my idea even further.

Entry 4

I have solidified my idea, and every day I make progress. The secondary research process is starting and I am becoming excited to learn and strengthen my project even more.

Work, school, and my personal life is starting to balance out now and it is becoming easier to get things done. I am ready to get to work.
